DUI Checkpoints Tonight in San Diego
Even though recreational marijuana is legal in the state of California, it does not mean there aren’t limitations on how much you can have in your system or be in possession of. San Diego police have announced that drivers can get a DUI for substances other than alcohol. Tonight there will be a checkpoint somewhere within San Diego specifically trying to target people driving under the influence of alcohol OR drugs. Always think twice before getting behind the wheel.

The San Diego Police Department announced plans for a DUI and license checkpoint somewhere in the city limits on Thursday night.
The latest checkpoint will target marijuana users under a new DUI Doesnt Just Mean Booze campaign by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
Studies of California drivers have shown that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems, the department said.
The checkpoint will be operating between 11 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday at a location chosen because of previous accidents and arrests. Officers will stop motorists briefly to check for drug or alcohol impairment and proper licensing.
Police regularly announce the checkpoints in advance because of the deterrent effect on people who might drink or take drugs and then drive.
