Repeat DUI Offender in San Francisco
A 43-year-old man with at least seven prior DUI convictions was arrested on what could be his eighth DUI offense.
The man was driving over 60 mph in a 40 mph zone when he was pulled over by officers. Not only was the man under the influence, his license was suspended and an open container of beer was found in his vehicle.
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO Authorities on Monday arrested a 43-year-old Daly City man on suspicion of what may be his eighth driving under the influence offense.
Officers initially stopped Orlando A. Barrios De Leon for driving 62 mph in a 40 mph zone on Hillside Boulevard at Holly Avenue in South San Francisco just after 10 a.m., according to Lt. Keith Wall.
Wall said the officers discovered De Leons license was suspended and found an open container of beer in his vehicle.
Officers placed De Leon under arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He has at least seven prior convictions for DUI, four of which resulted in state prison sentences, according to Wall.
De Leon was ultimately booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, felony DUI with prior felony convictions and driving with a suspended license.
Bail for each charge was set at $250,000, according to online jail records.
De Leon, who remains in custody, is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Wall said the officers who stopped De Leon were part of a special traffic enforcement detail funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety to enforce speeding violations.
